Photographer's note: Annually I schedule a photo shoot to coincide with the full moon. On this trip, I was in Grand Teton National Park at the start of the Winter season. At 4:30 a.m. and with temperatures in the single digits, I set up the equipment on the edge of Jackson Lake and began photographing the Mount Moran area over ten miles away. Because of the low temperature, batteries had to be changed frequently and the lens kept covered, except when photographing to prevent fogging. By 5:30 a.m. the moon had moved close enough to the horizon to illuminate snow on the distant mountain peaks, gave an otherworldly feeling to the surrounding terrain.
