Photographer's note: Willow Flats is a vast area of grassy land located near Jackson Lake. Although well known for its abundance of elk and moose, the Fall grasses can become a carpet of intense color. A one-half mile hike through the flats a short time after sunrise brought me to this large pond which had formed as the result of a recent rain storm. The rains had also helped to bring out the deep colors in the surrounding grass. The still pond with its smooth reflections, and colorful grass formed an ideal backdrop for this image of snow covered Mount Moran in the distance.
