Photographer's note: Willow Flats is a vast area of grassy land located near Jackson Lake. Although well known for its abundance of elk and moose, it was the grasses that drew me here late in the day to photograph. After a 20-minute hike into the flats through a quickly rising fog I set up my equipment and waited for this moment. The last light from an overcast day, a quickly enveloping distant fog and approaching rain storm revealed the deep colors of the grass and leaves through an almost dream-like atmosphere.
