Photographer's note: Oxbow Bend is located near Jackson Lake where the Snake River emerges from the lake. Signal Mountain on the right in the image above rises 1500 feet above the river. This area is well known for its photographic opportunities, and the early morning shot above was no exception. The sky was filled with clouds and as the sun rose, and were painted with the first rays of color, which was reflected in the nearly still water in the river. Moments after this shot, fog formed on the river and within 15-minutes nothing in this photo was visible.
