Comments:
Managed by the National Park Service, National Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management and, maintained by various non-profit trail organizations the National Scenic Trail system consists of over 30 hiking trails spread across the United States. To qualify for inclusion in this system, a trail must be a continuous 100 miles or longer and offering outstanding scenic beauty and recreation opportunity. The 1,400 mile long Florida National Scenic Trail (FNST) runs from the Gulf Islands National Seashore in the northwest part of the state through three national forests and ends at Big Cypress National Preserve in Southern Florida. This lone tree was photographed during an early morning hike in late fall along a section of that trail located in Martin County, Florida.
