Comments:
I traveled an unlighted narrow 2-lane road in the dark six days in a row to photograph the moon near sunrise at the 6,643 foot tall Clingmans Dome in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Tennessee. As the highest point in Tennessee, on a clear day it offers an unrestricted view of nearly 100 miles across the surrounding Smoky and Blue Ridge mountains. On each of the first five days the sky and mountain ranges were hidden by dense fog or snowstorms or the moon was too high in the sky. But, on the last day, with cool temperatures, a clear sky and the crescent moon perfectly positioned in the sky created this breathtakingly calm and peaceful scene.
